You must remove a jumper to enable sata 300 mbps transfers, it was very hard to remove because the edge is below the socket. I use a small screwdriver and the jumper went flying somewhere into the room. I tested it with h2benchw a test program used by toms hardware to compare drives. the results (most relavent part) are pasted below. to summarize the min read speed was 49.8MB/sec, average was 84.0 MB/sec, max 113MB/sec. I'm using it mostly for the audio portion of regular television watching since my new Panasonic big screen television has such poor audio speakers. I also listen to alot of music that comes over the digital cable. I planned on hooking it to some in-wall speakers but couldn't find an area above the fireplace to cut two 12 by 8 inch holes so I bought some Bose Acostimas 3 speakers and they sound great! ...more

This was extremely well priced for what it does. The main reason for this purchase was that I got a PS3 and wanted to full experience. I read other reviews and a lot of people noted that there is no audio pass-through from the HDMI cable. I misinterpreted this as the audio doesn't flow through the HDMI out, but still plays through the attached speakers. This wasn't the case. I have had this lens for almost a year and normally don't write reviews but the person who gave it four stars claims the pictures were great and focus fast and everyone agreed but gave it four stars? The lens deserves five stars for the price and flexibility. It does seem to work better on my 20d then on my 1Ds, the pictures are sharp and focus is fast for a zoom lens. I have taken pictures of aircraft, surfers, birds and have learned a lot about how to get the most out of this lens. I doubt that it was designed to be hand held, so if you want good pictures, use a tripod. I don't even think a monopod is adequate unless you have no other choice, like shooting a sporting event. Interlaced Scanning - This process divides and presents each video frame as two fields. Imagine a video frame being divided by the odd and even horizontal lines that make up the picture. The first field presents the odd lines; the second field represents the even lines. The fields are aligned and timed so that, with a still image, the human eye blends the two fields together and sees them as one. Motion in the image makes the fields noticeable. Interlace scanning allows only half the lines to be transmitted and presented at any given moment.
