The following are those I like. 1. This external hard drive works quietly. It seems that there is no fan to cool the hard drive, maybe b/c the hard drive does not generate much heat or the heat was dispersed through the alumimium shell quickly. 2. I've had this computer for a year and a half so far to backup my laptop and keep my work files and to keep my music and photos so I hope it never fails! It has worked great and quickly for me all this time. I have 3 external hard drives: the LaCie shown here, a Westen Digital My Book Essential and an Iomega Prestige.
